I've got to send my condolences, as well as get off my ass, and call [livejournal.com profile] gdothndr. His mother passed away this week. Rob, I'm so sorry. I'll call tonight.

*************************************

This week has been pretty good.

I spent the weekend in Virginia with Mason while he housesat for a friend's mom. She has an ancient, cantankerous cat that needs constant care. Including being given oral medication twice a day.

When I had to give Tate medicine, I just hefted him up, and stuck it in his mouth, held it shut and that was it. This cat, you bring the pills close to her and she lets out something comparable to Floppy's battle-meow™.

It was quite terrifying, considering she has one bent-over ear and one eye that's all cloudy and red. She's like Dread Pirate Kitty. All she needs is a pegleg, and trust me, seeing her walk, it's not much of a stretch.
Maybe she can steal [livejournal.com profile] grysar's.

The weekend overall was rather perfect, lovely and snuggly. I've gotta say, Phase 1 of South Beach is killer. Mason & I went to Giant and I nearly sold my soul for a cookie. Mason's soul was half-gone for a Shrek green-creme twinkie. Yet we both resisted.

I also saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the first time, and wow did I enjoy it. So much so that I think I'll purchase it just so I can watch it again. Aaron Sigo had come over to the Virginia house (and never left) but had brought his big wall projector, which was very cool. I also played Halo 2, which was fun, and funny since my major exposure to Halo, not owning an X-Box, has been Red Vs. Blue. I kept expecting the characters to break and start talking about inane shit. Alas.

My skillz with first-person shooters have markedly improved, but I've gotta say I'm missing some element of coordination in games where you use one analog stick to move around and the other analog stick to LOOK around. I end up using one for the other and vice versa and then I fall into the pit of doom. Doooom.

Suddenly The Simpsons has become a huge component of my life. I watch it while I'm at the gym, I run home for it, Mason and I watch it before we have dinner. I'm not sure how it became so all-consuming.

Not that I'm complaining or anything ;)

I saw Bridget Jones on Friday, and I really liked it, critics be damned. I laughed, it was cute, a lot like the first movie, but still entirely enjoyable! I've got to say some parts of it hit a little too close to home on some of the topics, and secretly, it made me cry and grouchy. I was at the movies with some other JGI'ers, and I had to sort of disguise my tears with my sickness snot-tissues as if my eyes were watering from the cold. How embarrassing!

I sold my receiver again, so I have some extra cash and have already been getting into the Christmas spirit. So shoot me. I'm both holly AND jolly. I've put a Santa on my door. Of course, my light-up pumpkin is still in the living room, but blaahh. I'm working on it.

Oh, and speaking of which to my technically-enabled friends, I'd like a website for Christmas. I want a place to put my graphic design work, as well as my LJ. And whatever else I feel like. Go! Prosper! Domain me!

So I switched to this mutli-service chat engine on my Mac at work called Adium, enabling be to log into Yahoo AND AIM at the SAME TIME. It's really nice, convenient, has cute features, as well as proper away messages (Fuck you iChat) and TABBED CHATTING. I swear I'm in heaven.

Also, it's given me the opportunity to chat during the day with [livejournal.com profile] jammie718. Man, I had missed day-to-day with her. ::LOVE:: It's been great. I am special!

The Rigel Scenario )

Monday night was nice, spent with [livejournal.com profile] reene who leaves for Tokyo tomorrow. We went to Michael's so she could buy yarn and non-terrorist needles to knit an Evil Slytherin scarf on the plane. I went a little nutty at Michael's and picked up a bunch of stuff. I've decided for my close family and friends that I will *make* them things for christmas. That way it'll be more heartfelt anyway.

Also, I lust for the Glass-Painting class at Michael's on November 30th. Anyone wanna go with me? $30!

Work is migrating me to a PC and I'm grumbling about it. I lub my mac. Boo. I retaliate against them by watching BitTorrented episodes of "Lost" during work hours. Ha!

Man, I know I had other things to talk about. But I've run out of steam!

The things I forgot--

1. New Year's -- [livejournal.com profile] reene is thinking of going to NYC for [livejournal.com profile] regyt's birthday, but I feel like I'd rather stay in MD. Is anyone around here thinking of doing something, or should I make the Big Apple Pilgrimage?

2. Wow, I forgot this while I left to go to the bathroom. Maybe I should take some Gingko-Biloba.

1. South Beach has done me well. I lost 7 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Now the questions remains as to whether I can *keep* it off.

2. I've been to the gym everyday thus far this week. Yay me.

3. I'm annoyed with people who never comment on my LJ, but then only comment to complain about friends-page formatting. Maybe I'm just upset that they don't seem to comment/care/interact normally, but somehow crawl out of their peevish selves to complain at me. Should I be insulted?

Lost is on tonight. I am excited.
