And just like that, it was May. I feel it's necessary to quote [livejournal.com profile] gatsbys_regret here --

11:18:22 AM [livejournal.com profile] gatsbys_regret: So it's birthday minus one. Are you feeling fulfilled with this year of your existence?
11:18:48 AM [livejournal.com profile] gatsbys_regret: ...or is today a mad scramble to get in all the things you wanted to get in this year?

And I thought about where I was a year ago. And how much has changed. I find myself no longer lonely, but surrounded by people.

I wish I could say I didn't still feel partially alone. Things feel so much more calculated and less fluid to me. I feel like I'm fighting against the relationships I have, because it seems terrifying to me to make roots and fulfill expectations and not bolt off to distant lands.

There is something to be said, though, for a little bit of sun and vitamin D. I've been listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell. It feels relevant to the weather. I told Cayenne that I even felt like it was "Joni Mitchell Weather" which fell completely flat, since she had never even heard Joni Mitchell. Alas.

Exams are on the horizon, next Monday and Tuesday. I've already begun to study, but I'm obviously slightly distracted by my birthday and the party, (New Yorkers, and especially those uptown, let me know if you want to cab-share downtown). And for the forgetful: Evite Link.

But spring is definitely in the air. I leave for France with [livejournal.com profile] bigrob in two weeks now! I'm not packed, nor do I even have a suitcase that I find acceptable for globe-hopping.

Additionally, please let me know if you want postcards.

[Poll #977554]

I need to finish half of these half-finished LJ entries.

I did have an exceedingly good weekend with [livejournal.com profile] grysar. I managed to drag him around by his ear, and kept him out past his bedtime nearly every night he was here. Games Clubbing and BBQs at Charles & Yenni's, and madcap visits to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

[livejournal.com profile] booksymagnifico came on Sunday, and we hit the Modest Mouse concert. Poor communication with LC meant that we had an extra ticket, but we were hipster-laden and fancy free, [livejournal.com profile] infd and I, drinking our $7 Checker Cab Beer. $8 beer is only funny when it's not actually there while you're forking money over for it.

Gah.

Necessity for emergency post. Those old ones will have to wait.
