August 18th. American Idol auditions in Washington, DC.

I'm sort of contemplating going & auditioning. Is this wild and foolish? Or even worth it?



EDIT: I think I'm sort of fishing for whether people think I would make a fool of myself or not. Or whether I'd even make it to "Day 2"

You have to go through a couple of pre-auditions before you see the real judges. They will critique you first. They're much nicer I hear. Psycho Mary auditioned, not to really get it, but to just reaffirm to herself that she had a nice voice. She got what she wanted.

Oh, it hardly matters. The first round, you won't see any of the "celebrity" judges anyway. And don't be worried about "making a fool" of yourself. There'll be a lot of no-talents beating you to that.

I know I'm no William Hung -- I just.. have a certain image of myself, and what I can do, and I'm not sure I could "take" the judges "honesty"

I haven't done a live performance of any sort in years (unless you count karaoke), so I can't tell. I don't think the first round judges will do much critiquing, though. They'll either hand you the pass to the next level, or they won't.
