wow -- there are a lot of people with
petridish as their interest -- and, unbelievably, I don't even know all of them!
Had a nice weekend this past -- Rob came down from Philly for his birthday and we celebrated appropriately. I made him a cake, and we ate at the BufFat -- "Fortune Star" -- which basically offers all-you-can-eat chinese food for $13. I can't imagine anyone
actually being able to eat $13 worth of chinese food (even though drinks & various sushis are included) .. so, it doesn't quite seem worth it, but the concept of it is fun enough.
Also, I continue to quest for my elusive Vegetable Dumplings ... they "have them" at Ming House (which means they're on the menu, yet somehow
mysteriously all sold out, and they "had them" at Fortune Star Buffet .. meaning ... there was a PLACARD for them, and underneath the placard were pork & shrimp dumplings.
Fucker. I never thought one of the things I'd miss most about New York would be miscellaneous vegetables wrapped in dough.
I had the funny coincidence of running into
reene,
bannoubunkacoby and Coby's mom in my building on Saturday. Apparently, Coby's mom knows some lady who lives in my building (unsurprising considering the remarkable density of old ladies in my building) and they were visiting! It was funny.
We had planned for the Corn Maze on Saturday, but as we sat in the Buffet, we saw the storm creep in! Alas! By the time we got to Dreamwizards, it was downright pouring. Well, fuck.
Instead, we decided to see Team America (like apparently everyone else on my friends list) ... Mason thought it was "okay" ... Rob liked it, and I loved it. What I liked the most about it was that it was decidedly non-partisan. I
loved that they blew up Michael Moore. (I fucking hate him). They mocked democrats, they mocked republicans. It was an equal opportunity mocking. Which was exactly my thing. Love.
Also, if you stick around for the credits, you will get to hear Kim Jong Il sing "You are Worthless Alec Baldwin" ... and then it will be stuck in your head for days. In fact, it is STILL stuck in my head.
On Saturday Night we watched
Slayers, which I had never seen before. Oh, and Friday night we watched
Wind Called Amnesia. I will say, diplomatically, that I liked Slayers much better (though one is a show and the other is a movie -- a fair comparison? who cares) ...
I managed to make a Fudge Marble Birthday Cake in like, 30 minutes. The whole cake. With icing. I'm not sure whether to be terrified or proud.
It has officially become cold enough for me to wear my dorky pom pom hat. And perhaps gloves at work. My fingers are icy. Brrrrrrrr
In other shameful news, I have not been to the gym since the
6th of October. Maybe I will move to my couch, gain 500 pounds, and have my skin grafted to the fabric. ::weep:;
I intend to go tonight.
mindymay?? You game?
Also, the party that is two weeks away is entirely unplanned. I have no complete costume, in fact, I'm not even sure who I want to dress up as anymore. I have not bought liquor, or anything. Or food.
Fuck.
Despite all this chaos, I'm in an excellent mood. I had a nice time with Mason last night (we made chocolate chip cookies) and I'm told that cleaning of my house is happening tonight ... the Shackies are coming to help me, and with 4 people, how can cleaning go wrong?
Also, I am
wearing my skinny jeans. Perhaps my good mood is related to that as well, along with my feeling the combustion of my spleen.
Yay!
