One down, One to Go...
Mar. 5th, 2007 02:49 pmFrench exam went fine. Am just tired now and still annoyed though laughing at the ridiculousness of my idiocy yesterday.
After dropping
lauren_lief off at the airport, I accidentally got onto the q48 bus instead of the m60. Buried in my Swahili flashcards, I didn't notice I was on the wrong bus until I passed Shea Stadium.
Woops.
I figured it was completely reparable as I marched stalwartly through Flushing towards the 7, intending to take it to Times Square and, from there, go uptown on the 1/2/3.
No such luck, as the weekend 7 stops at 61st street - Woodside. I contemplated calling people I knew in Woodside/Sunnyside and scrapping the evening's planned festivities, but I was determined to get home to my productivity, additional flashcards, and prepare for a potential visit out.
I transferred to the E at 74th Street - Roosevelt only to discover that there was some sort of "police investigation" at 50th street that was causing the E to run along the F track. Unsure of where exactly in Manhattan the F goes (aside from 23rd & 6th) and where it connects to a train I want to take, I got off at 34th street only to discover that my options included a) taking the B/D uptown to 145th and Saint Nicholas and then walking from there, at night, through my neighbourhood or b) (ba bum bum bummm) CERTAIN DEATH (ooooo!) kudos to whomsoever gets that reference
Which, really, are the same option. I make my own fate, so I went above ground and walked to 34th street and Madison. At this point, I'd already been traveling for so long that I really just didn't care. The M4 bus wasn't there, so I walked all the way up to 42nd street. The cold air felt nice, though. I wasn't at the stop yet when the bus pulled up at a red light next to me. The driver, who appeared to be literally sleeping at the wheel, was nice enough to let me on just at the corner there, and woooo. I was finally on my way home.
I did fall asleep at around 9:30pm after putting on Big Fish and I've been up this morning since about 5:30am.
Ah, it's 3 pm. My break is totally done. Wish my luck with my last exam (Swahili)
