There's something satisfying about feeling smart. I make no assumptions about my actual intelligence, since, in my group of friends, I feel like the dummy quite often.

But I don't think anyone can say that i hang out with people of average intelligence!

I was feeling forlorn last week after my chemistry exam. Studying and STILL wondering -- very seriously -- if you'd even managed to get five questions out of 20 correct. It's disheartening!

[I sort of got an idea for a new icon. whee!]

Anyway, I had another exam yesterday -- this one in French. And I kicked its ass. In the age of modern technology, it's definitely cool to think that you can take a test and see your grade posted online less than 2 hours later.

Not only did I kick its ass, I got 99.5/100 points. And I'm going to pretend that that half a point won't bother me.

Inspired by my new French confidence, I checked online for my chemistry grade. It's been posted for 2 or 3 days, but I was too afraid to check. Just to give you an idea of how difficult it was, out of 20 questions, someone who got 14 right got an A.

And I got 10 right! That's twice as many as I'd estimated!! That's a solid C! It's NEARLY a B!! I'm amazed, astonished, and I already called my mother at 8 am to wake her up and reassure her that her daughter was not, in fact, on her way to becoming the bride of Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel.

That, all by itself, is reason to celebrate. I do not care that I am getting sick. I am a one-woman brain machine!
