News and Snooze

I've slept tons since finally getting home. I'm not sure what about my last two weeks has encouraged me to spend at least 9 hours of every night, sleeping, and dreaming quite a lot.
New York is one of the hottest places that I know. People always presume that it must be somewhere in Africa, but what they don't count on in New York is the smog bounceback. The heat rises off of the hot cement, hits the smog, is revolted, gets hotter with rage of being confined, and plummets back towards the ground. You say "Gawwfh. That's hot!" when really, you are still secretly being baked from below as well from the heat coming up from the cement.
You don't have to have gizzards to feel like a Thanksgiving Turkey.
Speaking of which, I should thank
rosefox,
sinboy,
alexsirkman,
noranac,
celestialmartyr,
ursus_archetype, Freebird, and Other Sirkman for helping me move in my furniture on Tuesday last. It was probably the hottest day on record thus far, which justified every single hydrant on every block in my neighbourhood being opened.
But ti was wet, and sticky, and hot, and you guys were rockstars. So thank you.
Of course, it didn't help either that people decided to purposefully direct the spray of the hydrants at passers-by. Pas de problème.
gatsbys_regret, you'll loathe this, but they let Natalie Portman *name* a gorilla. I guess I'm pleased that MGVP is getting some press, but why does Natalie Portman get to name a gorilla? Overall, though, the MGVP blog is a fascinating read. I have it syndicated on LJ -

My phone is once again out of battery, and my charger is ... somewhere in one of these bags. Hey, I can find the *car* charger! *grumble*
