So I made a new and very cute LJ icon.

And.. it was 124 KB.

So... I futzed with it. Got it down to 64 KB. Can't get it any smaller. Alas.

Too big.

Any suggestons?


Do paid LJ accounts get more leeway?

how small (Kb) does it need to be?

is it a jpg or gif?

is it a real photo or cartoon art?

it needs to be 40k -- it's an animated gif with real photos in it :)

i'm lazy, but maybe you can look into if lj support pngs? and if pngs can be animated? :)

You really just need to save it all at lower resolution.

Try taking the individual pictures again and reducing their pixel density, and also their sizes. See if you can lower the quality down further, for all the images.
