Some days are so surreal, if I hadn't lived them myself, I would be like "Shut up. You're joking"... And really, yesterday was one of them.

Help! It's all going to my head!

First was the boing-boing, and now, I'm on tuaw.com.

[livejournal.com profile] dshadow was in #applegeeks and Hawk from [livejournal.com profile] apple_geeks topic'd it. So not only is it a small world because [livejournal.com profile] booksymagnifico's friend Jamie is friends with Hawk, but now John is all tied in and it just makes me all funny and giddy and proud.

It'd be really nice too if Apple saw the post and gave poor Allure some servicing when I came home too even though I'm a loser without AppleCare. The "l" key is now sticking with regularity, as are my arrow keys, especially annoying since I've got iController set up to advance iTunes track with Ctrl+Arrow keys. It means I can advance really easily, you know, except if my arrow keys are sticky and uncooperative.

Anyway, I'm all glow-y with dork pride. hehe.

Well, my dad and Ruth have definitely done well thus far in Uganda, and I'm pleased to say that it's been really nice having them here.

They're staying at a nice hotel, and today I went and picked them up to take them around. My dad had forgotten his charging cable for his HandyCam and seemed to think there was a Sony store somewhere in Entebbe. Of course, electronics are hard to get in KAMPALA, especially component pieces, and there just isn't even a PLACE to go in Entebbe!! Whether Sony is an international company or not :)

Ruth wanted to do some tourist shopping, so I took her down to the UWECT gift shop and the cabbie and I came to an agreement about him taking my dad to Kampala to find this cable/charger.

I should have gone, and was funnily reminded of the first time my dad put me in a cab by myself in New York... I mean, sending him unattended into Kampala! It's nervewracking!

I'm friends with the cabbie and trusted him to do right by my dad, so they went off on their own project while Ruth and I shopped ;)

I brought Ruth back to the office, cleared her for the forest walk on Saturday, and introduced her to everyone. We sat around chatting with Carol when I got an SMS from the cabbie saying my dad didn't want to go home -- he wanted to go and have a beer.

HA!

So I took him to 4 Turkeys and we all had beer while we watched the Commonwealth games -- Super HeavyWeight Lifting!

He and Ruth are coming to the house tonight for guacamole and corn chips, and tomorrow morning, it's off to the island!

I have almost no clean clothes at all, and I still have no idea where 90% of my stuff is.

With the power sharing of 24 hours on, 24 hours off too, using the washing machine is tricky!!

I'm feeling exhausted since I pulled another inadvertent all-nighter last night, scrambling to use the internet before the power went off.

*sigh* So many things to do. AND clean. Gah!

*hits Freddy Mercury high note*
