Well, I never imagined that I'd be in the office this long today, but well, one thing leading to another, and I'm waiting for the car to come back since it's pouring rain.

Carol left this morning at 6 am. She ended up flying to Bujumburo (in Burundi) and she'll be driving to Kigoma, Tanzania from there -- probably a 4-6 hour drive -- directly across Burundi. It should be pretty cool.

I made a list of everything I wanted to get accomplished before I left, and I'm pretty sure that I can get it all done. I guess I'm already trying to detach myself emotionally from some of the chimps -- realizing how soon I might be leaving is sort of a shock.

I also am trying to be industrious in planning my trip home (which is in a month) -- I reserved my rental car today and am perusing hotel deals for the time that I'm in Maryland. I also have no idea what to wear to the wedding -- I browsed through some dresses online, and came up with these three:

Number 1

Number 2

Number 3

The wedding is in upstate NY, on a Sunday, at 2 pm in April. Now, is April Spring-Colors time? Are browns and blacks too drab? Is red too slutty? How in the world does anyone ever know? I'd love people's opinions.

I think that the brown one might be the nicest for the occasion. I've amused myself thoroughly too by discovering Nu-Bra which I could wear with a halter dress or a strapless. The idea appeals to me, but you've gotta wonder what's wrong when your bra needs a Windows Media instructional video.

Also, I managed to get some more photos up into the Week Thirty Photoset. Haven't tagged them or anything, but people might enjoy them nonetheless.I've been in the office now for three days, and yet it's seemed very strange and uneventful. And isolating, as I've gotten to talk with far fewer people than usual.

Either way, it's back to the Chateau for me today, and probably not back in the office until Monday. Until then!

I like #1 best, maybe just because I like red things, but maybe #3 would look good against your hair. You do look good in strapless dresses. *envies*

Thank you! I used to veer away from anything sleeveless, but now I just love straplessness.

I like the red one (but I just love red) but I think the brown or black woud be better suited to both you and the occasion. Brown is pretty but black as red on it!!!

Really I think any of them would be good (the red isn't slutty btw - it's too nicely cut) so is all up to what you want.

and thus i gve my opinion and take it away all in one inconclusive swoop.

I was worried that the red was just somehow wedding... inappropriate.

but thanks for the self-conflicting opinion regardless. tee hee.

Most definitely the black and red! Black is almost always flattering and the design is simple and classy. I don't see the brown working with your complexion, and though the red is pretty I think it might be a little overpowering with your red hair and fair complexion (but it's my #2 choice).

There's the added drama that these are all people who watched me grow up and if I show up looking like a skank, a hussy or a fatso I will NOT be happy :P

I'm uploading a photo of the dress I'm planning to have made now.

Nice dresses! I agree that the red might clash with your hair - the color may look different in person, too, so why take the chance. I really like the third dress, it's such a flattering cut. #2 is also very cute. Is there any clothing at all available where you are? If you could wear something unique from Africa, that would be truly super-cool.

You inspired me to indeed have a dress made here. The traditional cuts of the dresses are sort of ugly boring, but I bought absolutely lovely local fabric on Sunday and I think it'll look "African" regardless.

April is definitely time for spring colors. Brown would be too drab, BUT that one has pink and little flowers on it. New life born of the earth and all that. The totally red dress is far too ostentatious to be polite at someone else's wedding, so I'd say your best choice is to go with number two, number three in my opinion looks like a little goth prom dress. Plus, the brown would look awesome with your hair and show off the line of your collarbone and shoulders. :)

Thanks for the advice :D

I definitely liked the brown the best too -- If I could get away with it!

I like Dress #2 because it's unusual in a cute way, but Dress #3 is also sexy. Difficult choice!!

I thought so too! Actually, of all of them though, I think #3 will look least good on me.

I'd vote #1 or #2, although it's just a gut call, so I'm afriad I don't have any compelling reasons to back that up.

For what it's worth I like #3 the best. #1 is too sexy you'll steal people's attention from the bride. #2 I dothink is drab So #3 Although black to a wedding? I dunno...

Yea, #1 is definitely not wedding appropriate.

Did you see the sketch of the custom dress?
