I just had the strangest, most vivid dream. I was on this space station, with the chimps, and it was orbitting this planet. It was absolutely enormous Probably 100x as big as Galactica.

During the course of the dream, we discovered that the people in charge of the space station were nefariously planning to blow up the planet, Death-Star-Style, because everything on the planet was expendable, soon to be replaced by its counterpart on the space station.

Somehow this information leaked, and the space station became overrun with people. So they decided that they had to get rid of any space station programs that were expendable.

I knew, in the dream, that this meant my chimps. I saw Kanabiro tumbling on a catwalk, white and shiny, and I beckoned, calling her, desperate to get her attention so that we could all escape. Finally, she did, and just as we exited our section of the ship, this hatch opened over our section and had we stayed, we would have been sucked out into the void of space.

We were running through corridors, and the three chimps I was carrying were getting so heavy. I put them into a tiny escape pod -- there was no room for me -- and jettisoned it, and somehow, my dream transitioned from the space station to the jungle.

I entered a national park in, presumably, Africa somewhere, and displayed my passport. During this part of the dream, I was a fugitive because of my acts on the space station. I was so tense while they looked through my passport, because I wasn't sure if my Space-Fugitive-Bulletin had been transmitted yet or not.

They let me through and I wandered into the park, but I noticed after a little while that there were two armed men following me. I went off the main path, onto a tiny little trail, and they were following me. So I was running, running, running. I darted off to the side into a clump of bushes... and there was a gorilla there. A wild gorilla. I stayed very still and listened as the guards ran straight past where I was hiding.

The gorilla didn't seem to mind me, so I got up, quietly and slowly, and made my way to a nearby clearing. There was a house there with a sign that said "curio" but the house was very narrow and low to the ground. I knocked and told the man I need someplace to hide, but because I figured he wouldn't do it for free, I gave him the only money I had -- 2000 Ugandan shillings -- which is about equivalent to a dollar.

To get into his house, I had to lie on my belly and pull myself along the floor, careful not to knock over any of the statues, masks, etc that adorned both walls of the house. I huddled up, careful to lie under the windows so no one could see me, and I fell into a fitful sleep. I could hear guards shouting at each other, presumably looking for me, through the night. At about 3 am, the house owner woke me and told me he was going into town with a convoy.

I saw my chance to exit the park, and went with him. It turned out the convoy was a bunch of matatu minibusses, each filled with 2 illegally poached chimpanzees who were screaming. I couldn't say or do anything about it, because I was a fugitive. I the back of the bus, hiding, I held the two chimpanzees in my van and their skin was cold to the touch. Very strange.

We passed tons of checkpoints, but the guards had been paid off to look the other way because of the illegal chimps so it wasn't difficult for me to stay unnoticed.

We finally got to this garage, and these policemen came to take the chimps -- not terribly surprising, but I found myself suddenly torn. If I tried to save the two chimps that were in the van with me, the policemen were surely find me and apprehend me.

I shamefully didn't stop them taking the chimps. I'm a jerk in my dreams!

I snuck out the back of the matatu and ran down the streets of Faux-Goma. I saw this enormous UN tent and this British man outside it with a handlebar mustache and a pith helmet.

"I need to get back to the United States!" I cried

"The man inside should be able to help you. Also, could you ask him to bring me a coke?"

And that was the end of my very strange and convoluted dream.
