Expeditious Panic

Debby got a call this morning from the UN lady at like --10:35 am -- saying that she was leaving the country and needed to have me & willi's scanned passports -- by noon.
Uhh.... bwa? Doom? Our passports were still at the Congolese embassy, getting their visas. Crap. Kampala is an hour away, it was just impossible.
I called Willi in a panic and he was driving around, working in Kaballagallah (a district of Kampala). But he took the task on -- scans emailed to me by noon -- which meant racing to the Congolese embassy.
When he got there, he found the embassy closed. Especially shitty considering we'd specifically ASKED yesterday whether we could pick them up on Wednesday morning.
Close to panic, Willi was asking the escarii (security guard) whether he could just come in, that we really needed our passports back ASAP.
When, lo and behold, the escarii pulls our passports out of his pocket.
My oh my, that's SOME security! And he still insisted that Willi call me to give my permission to hand the passport over! HA! I mean, sheesh -- Pocket Security.
The point is, that Willi succeeded and, past noon here, the scanned passports are already off to the UN safe and sound. Our flight is actually at 1 pm on Friday and hopefully I'll get some additional details before I fly out.
Ya... hopefully. Eep! It's all really happening!
