It's ben such a mad, crazy hectic and fun week, finishing papers, but if I don't write about some of it, I never will! Or I'll never have time. So, even though I went to bed last night at around 4 am, and it's uh... 9:10 am now, I'm going to whip off a quick report and then pack, clean and run downtown for brunch and Christmas shopping...

While, of course, I check into my flight online.

I need to first talk about Tuesday night, which was the 3rd Annual Porn Festival at Monkeytown. I went with [livejournal.com profile] luminifer, and [livejournal.com profile] stephantravels, and, since Monkeytown is in Williamsburg, we drove from downtown in Alex's car.

The 3rd Annual Porn Festival is not, despite its name, some sort of circle jerk with food. It's supposed to operate like an interactive art experience -- what would it be like, for example, to watch very hardcore porn whilst having your palate stimulated by the tastiest of foods?

What was funny was that the entire evening was not, in fact, hardcore porn, but often abstract softcore porn -- so abstract, even, that I'm not sure people would/could have identified it as such were they not at a porn festival. What was important, however, was that the food was delicious. Some of the best food I've had in ages!

And sheesh, the porn wasn't bad either ;) For photos of the fun, check out the set.

Thursday night, in addition to Paper Crunch Timeā„¢, was my annual Bio-Anthro Holiday Party with my two favorite professors, Holloway and Shapiro, the former who plays the trumpet and trombone for our amusement and holiday cheer. It was great fun, and a great relief after the week of grueling paper-writing. It actually felt like I was getting into the Christmas Spirit.

I did manage to finish the paper that had been eating my soul -- Animal Rights. I picked a topic that was SO broad and potentially drowning, that it did nearly drown me. If you're curious, I've uploaded the PDF of one version here

This doesn't mean that I'm totally done -- I've still got a paper to write, but I figure that it'll keep til after Christmas. I mean crap, I haven't even started finished my Christmas shopping yet! Doesn't mean I can't be jolly.

Friday night was the Fancy Dress-Up Christmas Party, before which I went with AC to get manicures and pedicures. We wandered around the Union Square crafties market, which was fun, but I'll admit the rain sucked.

I headed over to Montien early to set up for the party and drink more. [livejournal.com profile] infd came early too, so we plotted to annex the restaurant as proper dinner patrons left.

Nerdily, as people arrived, we were forced to identify one another not just by our regular names, but LJ handles, since so many people knew one another on LJ but not in real life.

Here's an LJ roll call for the whole evening: [livejournal.com profile] rosefox, [livejournal.com profile] sinboy, [livejournal.com profile] lilinthra (all the way from MD!), [livejournal.com profile] infd, [livejournal.com profile] stephantravels, [livejournal.com profile] clucas6416, [livejournal.com profile] reverend_dave, [livejournal.com profile] lampbane, [livejournal.com profile] corneredangel (see, I didn't forget you this time!), [livejournal.com profile] terriblepotato, [livejournal.com profile] failedoptimist, ... I think those are all the names I can conjure at this early hour.

Whether or not it went well, I had a great time and I got a great Secret Santa gift, despite failing twice at my own gift ;) I've promised to make amends.

I did stay up way too late, but I had a nice sleepover with [livejournal.com profile] failedoptimist with pears and cartoons. I meant to go Christmas shopping with AC on Saturday, but I really just slept until about 3 pm. I rolled out of bed, put on fancy clothes over my pajamas, and headed uptown to [livejournal.com profile] rosefox and [livejournal.com profile] sinboy's for a somewhat-impromptu caroling party! Rose and I had planned it once I realized that, in my study!flurry, I had missed every Messiah sing-a-long and general holiday caroling event. D'oh!

I'll let [livejournal.com profile] rosefox do that roll call, but it was great fun, and only slightly off-key, and I learned how to use so many cook-y things in order to make cookies! We made bacon fat-ginger cookies, which sound weird, but were, in fact, SO delicious. [livejournal.com profile] rosefox mentioned doing Rocky Horror, and really, when is a more appropriate time to go scream call lines than Christmas Eve?

Sadly, I really didn't recognize anyone from the cast anymore -- but it did make me reminiscent for my Summer of Fun with [livejournal.com profile] lucidam. It was a bit of a slipshod cast, because of Christmas departures, but they did a great job anyway. And wow, it was fun. [livejournal.com profile] rosefox is an old pro, and we remembered a lot of the same call lines (since most of them are the city-specific) but I heard a lot of new ones that I just loved and will remember for next time! (Oh no Mr. Frodo!)

I will definitely look back and smile on Christmas Eve proper, remembering that I spent its early hours screaming "ASSHOLE!" in a dark theater.

I feel like I've had to rush through a lot of the week, both in real life and here, and it's not like I'm ready to relax yet. I still have to pack, take out the trash, and what in the world does one wear to fancy Christmas brunch at the Harvard Club? Maybe I'll pull out my blue tweed suit.

Here's wishing everyone a very, very Happy Christmas! I fly out to Ohio to see my mom tonight and I just can't wait to see [livejournal.com profile] lauren_lief this week!!
